On the Dos and Don'ts part of the website we are advised:

"Don't practise when you are experiencing intense emotions, such as sadness, anger or too much excitement."

Would you include depression and anxiety as "intense emotions"? A lot of people will be depressed and anxious about their particular chronic illness such as cancer, etc while for others it is chronic depression and anxiety itself which is their illness.

Some clarification would be greatly appreciated.

That's a good question.

When talking about depression and anxiety you need to guage to severity of it.

Severe panic attack or clinical depression to the point of being unable to function = do not practice but seek immediate professional help.

There's a big difference between being anxious and/or depressed and being in a state of alarm that constitues an emergency. If the severity does not warrent emergency treatment then you are clear to practice.

Hope this helps.
